- Ceramic coating vs wax: A wax sits on top of the paint and washes away in a few months. A ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat and lasts years. Wax costs less and has to be redone; a coating is applied once, over corrected paint, and changes how often the vehicle needs washing.
- Paint protection film vs ceramic coating: Film stops rock chips; a coating does not. A coating makes everything easier to clean; film does not do much for that on its own. They solve different problems, which is why most owners who can do both put film on the front and a coating everywhere else.
